UWM Chancellor Mark E. Mone awarded the UWM Foundation Senior Faculty Research award to urban planning chairwoman and professor Ivy Hu. School of Architecture & Urban Planning Interim Dean Nancy Frank describes Hu as a “leading scholar in the field of regional location dynamics and transportation.” In addition to her research looking at sustainable community building, public health, sustainable transportation and how transportation resources are allocated differently within a household – hint: whoever makes more money tends to get more access to the “family car” – Hu has been a featured expert for media outlets in Toronto and Milwaukee. She’s spoken recently on skyscraper construction in Canada and a prospective “gas tax” in Wisconsin. For a closer look Hu’s research portfolio visit the full fall awards writeup in UWM Report.
