Get Involved
Academic performance is only part of what employers look for. UWM provides wide-ranging extracurricular activities to build your skills and round out your resume.
Volunteer, join a student group or apply for one of many exciting internships with our partners. You’ll build connections that will last long past graduation!
Campus Traditions
The annual Pantherfest concert, science events during Geek Week and games at UREC Fest are just a few of the activities that make UWM students’ campus experience memorable.
A Vibrant City
At UWM, consider Milwaukee part of your campus. With a booming job market and many artistic and cultural opportunities, the city is a great place to build your future.
Attend dozens of ethnic, music and art festivals, explore the city’s rich restaurant scene and catch a game at Miller Park or the new Bucks arena. We encourage you to explore local happenings, as well as find opportunities for volunteering and employment.
Get Real-World Experience
Many UWM students benefit from internships that allow them to develop practical skills before graduation. Internships give students on-the-job experience as well as networking opportunities with more than 1,400 Milwaukee-area employers. Students also can receive academic credit for their internships. Graduating with an internship experience helps graduates boost their resumes and impress future employers. According to a 2017 survey published by the National Association of Colleges and Employers Job Outlook, nearly 91 percent of employers prefer candidates with work experience.
Happy, Healthy and In Shape
These are going to be some of the best years of your life and we want to make sure you feel good enough to make the most of them.
Recreational, nutritional and mental health programs are available, as well as affordable bike rentals and access to our state of the art athletic facility.
