The Office of Government Relations builds strong relationships with policymakers at the local, state and federal levels. Leaders learn what’s happening and are connected to UWM’s campus — and that connection helps grow support for the university. 

Get Involved in Building Support for UWM

UWM works closely with government agencies in the city of Milwaukee. UWM also works with governments across the greater Milwaukee area.
Wisconsin State Capitol building
UWM gets some of its funding through the state’s two-year budget process. UWM relies on continued state support. This support helps UWM grow as a major research institution. It also helps UWM serve Wisconsin students.
United States Capitol Building
Federal funding is a key part of many of UWM’s research and academic programs. Federal programs also help pay for UWM students’ education.
