Residents ordering packages should include both their first and last name as they appear on their campus ID and their mailbox number in their delivery address to ensure timely and accurate check-in by mailroom staff. See information at the bottom of this page if the name on your campus ID does not match the name you use.
Purin Hall’s mailboxes are serviced directly by the U.S. Postal Service; UWM mailroom staff do not place mail pieces into Purin Hall’s mailboxes. Purin Hall does not have a secure location for packages to be delivered without a signature, requiring their delivery at Sandburg Hall’s mailroom; please address packages for Purin Hall residents to Sandburg Hall’s delivery address: 3400 N. For Fall 2021, Sandburg’s mailroom is open from 1-8 pm Monday – Saturday; Cambridge’s mailroom is open 4-8 pm Monday/Saturday and 1-8 pm Tuesday – Friday. Kenilworth residents can retrieve their packages from the Service Desk.
Residents should look for a notification from our package management system in their UWM inbox to ensure the package is checked into their residential mailroom and available for retrieval. Below is an example of the package notification message residents will see in their UWM inbox when their package is available for pick-up.
If mail delivers for a student who no longer lives in University Housing, mailroom staff will look for a forwarding address in the student’s account. If the forwarding address on file is in the United States, USPS Priority, Parcel, and First Class, UPS, and FedEx mail pieces will be forwarded to the domestic forwarding address in the student’s account. USPS Presorted Standard and Non-Profit classes and Amazon Logistics do not have forwarding services available.
If a student does not have a forwarding address on file, mailroom staff will look for a permanent address on file. If the permanent address is in the United States, mailroom staff will be able to forward applicable mail pieces to this address. Carriers do not provide forwarding services to international addresses. When packages are not able to be forwarded, they will be returned to sender.
Packages shipped by Amazon Logistics which cannot be delivered to a current housing resident will be returned to sender. Amazon’s policy is the order recipient must request a replacement item at their current address.
UWM mailroom staff do not receive updated tracking information for forwarded or returned packages. Order recipients must contact their carrier for updated tracking information. To follow up with mailroom staff regarding your package, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your package’s carrier tracking number and delivery date. Sending the mailroom screenshots of your carrier tracking number and delivery confirmation is the best way to receive the most accurate information the most quickly.
If you are missing a package, please file a missing package claim. Package claims will be submitted to the mailroom immediately upon form submission, and a response provided within 1-2 business days.
Packages should be delivered to the student’s name on file with UWM. Package check-in may be delayed or package may be returned to sender for students receiving packages to names other than their name on file with UWM, as additional research is needed to confirm the correct recipient. Students wishing to update their name on file with UWM should do so by following UWM’s campus instructions. Students should also have their campus ID updated at the PantherCard Office in the UWM Union to reflect their current name.
