Kenilworth opened in August 2006. Originally built in 1914 as a Ford Model T plant, the remodeled apartments offer truly unique living options on Milwaukee’s Eastside.

Approximately 330 students live in one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. Kenilworth Square also has approximately 20 apartments reserved for short-term guest housing.

Kenilworth Square features 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments. All apartments include a full kitchen and sitting area. Some apartments have in-unit laundry, while others boast 14-foot ceilings. Each type of apartment has two price levels: standard and upgraded. Kenilworth Square Apartments have many unique floor plans. Location
Kenilworth Square Apartments are located on Kenilworth Place, south of North Avenue.The first floor of Kenilworth includes retail space currently occupied by a pizza parlor, 24-hour gym, salon, and a national home furnishings/clothing chain.

The east side of the Kenilworth building houses the UWM Peck School of the Arts, which frequently hosts gallery shows and live performances.

Eligibility & Restriction

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to live in Kenilworth Square Apartments, you must be a registered UWM student in good standing at the time of entry. Contract holders must be at least one of the following:

  • Graduate Student
  • Visiting Faculty Member
  • Undergraduate – 21 years or older by date of entry
  • Undergraduate – Attained Junior or Senior status by date of entry

Restrictions

Pets (other than fish) are not allowed in Kenilworth. Service animals are not considered pets, and are allowed (though a resident may be asked to show proof of service animal certification, etc.) Fish must meet acceptable health standards in an aquarium or fishbowl (tank must be 10 gallons or smaller). University Housing reserves the right to remove illegal pets at the expense of the resident.

  • Children are not allowed to live in Kenilworth Square.
  • Kenilworth Square is a smoke-free community.

Parking
Parking is available for Kenilworth residents in the second floor garage located off Farwell Avenue. Visit UWM Transportation Services to view the rates and procedures to request a permit. Visitor parking is available on surrounding streets and in the first floor garage located of Farwell Avenue. All visitor parking is metered.
Tours
Tours of RiverView and Cambridge Commons, Kenilworth Square Apartments, and Sandburg Traditional Towers (North, South, and West) occur on a predetermined schedule.
