This studio investigates issues of iconography, seriality, materiality, and speed relative to a chain or branch typology. The term small box defines those building types that are ubiquitous, like a bit box, but have a much smaller footprint such as a gas station, bank, restaurant, coffee shop, etc. The course begins with research on existing building types and proceeds with the development of a serialization strategy for different prototypical sites ranging from urban to suburban.
