320 Studio: Embodied Light

Bob Allsop

Undergraduate/2014

The embodied light project harnesses the latent energy within the remains of those who have passed and utilizes that energy to illuminate an individual beacon of embodied light. Each beacon remains lit for one year at which time aqueous remains are then absorbed into the site and used as a catalyst for the life and growth of landscape. The next of kin may then come and collect the solid ash remains and transfer their loved one’s beacon to the wall of remembrance which surrounds the landscape above, ensuring that the family will always have a place to come remember those that have passed. For those individuals and families wishing for a traditional burial experience, spaces are available for traditional caskets and cremation urns.
