Bio
Mo Zell is the Interim Dean at UW-Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Planning and principal of the design and research firm, bauenstudio. She also served as Associate Dean from 2012-2018. She recently completed a 2nd edition to her book The Architectural Drawing Course. The first edition sold 40,000 copies worldwide between 2008-2016. The new edition includes projects related to installation and making at full scale.
In various administrative capacities as Associate Dean, committee chair and faculty member, Mo spearheaded a number of initiatives at the school including the SARUP externship program, SUPERjury, Women in Design Milwaukee, and the SARUP Mobile Design Box.
Her research is positioned at the confluence of architecture and installation. In collaboration with her design partner, Marc Roehrle, she has had commissioned work on display at the Haggerty Museum of Art. The design work of bauenstudio has been recognized with several design awards including a Boston Society of Architecture (BSA) Honor Award, a Boston Society of Landscape Architecture (BSLA) Merit Award and an ACSA Faculty Design Award. Bauenstudio was also featured in Architecture Record as an emerging practice to watch. She currently has work on display in the SARUP Research Garden. Most recently Mo was recognized as a Woman of Influence from the Milwaukee Business Journal.
Mo completed her BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia with a minor in Mathematics and Master of Architecture from Yale University.
