Biography

Sofia Theodore-Pierce is a filmmaker working with idiosyncratic and somatic storytelling to explore the spaces we inhabit, psychically and physically. Her work has been exhibited at festivals and venues such as Antimatter Media Art, Alchemy Moving Image Festival, Milwaukee Underground Film Festival, Wisconsin Film Festival, ICDOCS, and FRACTO Berlin. She has programmed artist film screenings at venues nationally and internationally, including Cactus Club Milwaukee, UWM’s Union Cinema, and Printed Matter’s New York Art Book Fair. Her writing and visual work have been published by dispersed holdings and Inpatient Press.

Desire and art-making are border-crossing impulses. Promiscuity—an eagerness for mixture, excitement at the new things arrived at through unexpected encounters—is one of the virtues I most admire in thinking, in art-making, in life.
