Biography

Krislyn World is a graduate of The Juilliard School (BFA) and UWM Peck School of the Arts (MFA). Her choreographic works include The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Ohio Contemporary Dance Theater, The Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater, Skylight Music Theatre “Violet” and “Crowns” and The Jacob’s Pillow International Dance Festival, and Bill T Jones. She is an honorable mention in both Viola Davis and Judith Jamison’s Memoirs, “Finding Me and Dancing Spirit” Featured in WTMJ4 International Women’s Series, Milwaukee, WI. Krislyn received the Legendary African American Choreographers Award, from LVCDT. Vocal soloist at Summerfest, The White House with Morgan State Choir and Internationally with “Raphael” Millennium Tour, Madrid, Spain. She has danced for Stevie Wonder’s World “Characters” Tour, South-East Asia.  Musical theater appearances include, The Milwaukee Repertory Theater Education Program, North Carolina Black Repertory Company, and First Stage Theater. Krislyn holds an international certification in Ballroom Judging. As a community educator, her residencies include, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Danceworks, African American Children’s Theater, Walker’s Point Center of Arts, Bruce Guadalupe Community School, UWM Pre-College, Trio Programs and MPS where she taught Yoga for children “Mindfulness Movement” 2020. Krislyn is also a certified Vinyasa Yoga instructor. She choreographed UWM’s musical theater production, “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” and “Street Signs”. Krislyn has served the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee since 2003 as a Senior Lecturer of Dance, Peck School of the Arts where she teaches African and Latin dance. She is also the owner and founder of Blue Water Wellness, LLC providing wellness services. She is a state licensed Massage Therapist. Most recently, she received a Peck School of the Arts Professional Development Travel Award for research in Latin Dance, Waikiki, Hawaii 2025. She has attended the Annual “Salsa in Hawaii International Salsa and Bachata Congress” 2018 and 2025. She has presented at The University of Hawaii-Manoa, Dance Department, 2018 and 2025. Krislyn is a Center of Caribbean and Latin-American Studies faculty member, UW-Milwaukee (CLACS).
