Biography
Lee Stovall currently teaches high school choir and music technology at Rufus King High School. Additionally, he is the assistant artistic director for Our Voice Milwaukee, teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and he sings professionally with the early music ensemble Aperi Animam. Piloting music technology programs in three different school districts, Stovall looks to use innovative practices to enhance music programming. As a leading music educator in Wisconsin, he is one of the two first-ever equity chairs for WMEA (Wisconsin Music Educators Association), and has spent time on the boards of WMEA, WCDA (Wisconsin Choral Directors Association) and MMEA (Milwaukee Music Educators Association). As part of MMEA, Stovall helped pass and implement a policy that increased student participation in music education in Milwaukee Public Schools from 19% in 2018-2019 to 92% in 2023-2024. This growth is an example of him pursuing his greatest passion: using music education to break down societal barriers in race and gender.
