Biography

Tracey has been an instructor at UW-Milwaukee since 2004, teaching yoga classes through the dance department. She is a certified teacher in the Iyengar tradition (founded by B.K.S. Iyengar) which is an accessible method of yoga for the modern practitioner that is sophisticated, scientifically founded, and rooted in history and tradition. It is a form of hatha yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of posture (asana) and breath control (pranayama).

Tracey holds a BFA in Art Education (UWM) and has over two decades of teaching experience. Tracey brings both creativity and deep knowledge to every class she teaches and her university position has given her the unique opportunity to work with an incredible range of bodies—from dancers and athletes to veterans and mothers returning to school. This has enabled her to witness how movement can transform not just bodies, but entire perspectives on what's possible.

"Yoga has been part of my life for over 25 years and has profoundly shaped who I am today. It has helped stabilize my emotions, build self-confidence, and find relief from chronic back pain. To me, yoga is more than a practice on the mat—it's a way of life that reminds me to slow down, be present, and show up as my best self every day. I truly don't know who I'd be without it. What started as my own journey toward feeling better has evolved into a calling to help others discover their own sense of well-being and inner strength."

Tracey also teaches classes, workshops and private lessons at Riverwest Yogashala, a community-run non-profit studio in Milwaukee's vibrant Riverwest neighborhood.
