Biography

Christal has her BFA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a teacher and art maker through the Milwaukee area. She has been on faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee dance department since 2008 teaching Jazz, Musical Theatre and Tap Technique. Additionally she has served as rehearsal director for UWM guest artists Keely Garfield, Ana Maria Alvarez and will act as rehearsal director for Bernard Brown in Winter of 2020. As a student she has performed works by notable choreographers such as Daniel Gwirtzman, Ronald K. Brown and Laura Dean. Professionally she has performed with Your Mother Dances, Gina Laurenzi Dance Project, and is currently performing with Danceworks Performance Company in their 11th season. At Danceworks Performance Company she has danced guest choreography by Sarah Wilbur, Sean Curran and was a featured dancer in choreography by Emma Draves, Daniel Burkholder, Dawn Springer and Simone Ferro. She has been a guest performer with Dawn Springer Dance Projects, Present Music, and Milwaukee Opera Theatre. She has won 6 Wisconsin Jerry awards for Outstanding Choreography in Musical Theatre and has choreographed for Danceworks Performance Company, Milwaukee Ballet II, Milwaukee High School of the arts, and Skylight Music Theatre. Christal is also a founding member of the music and dance trio Cadance Collective, creating and performing their original works since 2012.
