Biography
Lucio Arellano (b. 1995, WI) is a filmmaker, programmer and educator based in Milwaukee, WI. His work is interested in exploring the non-linear and personal relationships found between the concepts of time, tradition, memory, and family as they apply to the transnational identity. His work has screened locally and internationally at the Milwaukee Film Festival, Manchester International Film Festival, San Francisco Int. Film Festival, Arizona Int. Film Festival and the Festival Int. de Cine en CDMX. A recipient of the Adoor Gopalakrishnan Award for Artistic Merit in 2018, The Andy Warhol Individual Artist Grant in 2020, and The Joy Engine Community Arts Grant in 2023, his work has also been featured in fine art spaces such as MicroLights Microcinema, The Real Tinsel Gallery, Walker's Point Art Center, Saint Kate Arts Center, Wausau Center for the Visual Arts and Genesis Gallery. He received his MFA in Cinematic Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2023 and currently works as a Program Manager for the ongoing Out There Series and a Lecturer of Fine Arts at UWM.
