Biography

Angela Frederick Blahnik has taught dance at UW-Milwaukee since 2009. She was a company member of Wild Space Dance Company from 2007 to 2018 and again from 2024. After earning her BFA in Dance from UW-Milwaukee, Angela became active in the Milwaukee arts scene. She taught dance and gymnastics and performed with local companies like Danceworks, the Florentine Opera Company, Dale Gutzman Productions, and City Ballet Theatre/Signatures Contemporary Dance Company.

While with City Ballet Theatre, Angela moved to Chicago and joined Kinetic Dance Theatre. In Chicago, she was part of Perceptual Motion Inc., Irreverence Dance + Theatre (Innervation Dance Cooperative), and Jayson Dance Co. (Jayson-Tisa Dance Company). Angela has choreographed and performed in events like Solstance, Around the Coyote Dance Festival, and Dance Chicago.

Since returning to Milwaukee, she played Margot in the Florentine Opera’s Merry Widow. Angela continues to dance, teach, and choreograph with Wild Space, UW-Milwaukee, Lawrence University (2010-2017), Milwaukee Turners, Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful, and Greendale Community Theatre.
