Biography

Angela Frederick Blahnik has been teaching at UW-Milwaukee since 2009. She graduated on the Deans Honor List and as a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society with a BFA in Dance from UW-Milwaukee. After graduating, Angela established her presence in the Milwaukee arts scene by teaching dance, gymnastics, and performing with various companies including Danceworks, the Florentine Opera Company, Dale Gutzman Productions, and City Ballet Theatre/Signatures Contemporary Dance Company. While living in Chicago she was a company member with Kinetic Dance Theatre, Perceptual Motion Inc., Innervation Dance Cooperative, and Jayson-Tisa Dance Company. Angela has choreographed and appeared in work with Innervation Dance Cooperative, Solstance, Around the Coyote Dance Festival, and Dance Chicago. Since her return to Milwaukee she has performed the role of Margot in the Florentine Opera’s Merry Widow and has been enjoying dancing, teaching, and choreographing around the community with various companies such as Wild Space Dance Co., UW-Milwaukee, Lawrence University, Werk MKE Latin Dance Company, Milwaukee Turners, and Greendale Community Theatre.

Angela teaches multiple sections of Body Sense as a Lecturer in the PSOA Dance Department. She also teaches Ballroom, Latin Dance, Resilience in College and Beyond, and Yoga in the Zilber College of Public Health-Sport and Recreation.
