Biography

Joshua Backes is a Missourian transplant to Milwaukee. He has been an active contributor to Milwaukee's music and art scenes since 1999. After years of being in bands, touring and making records, he decided to study composition officially in the Peck School of the Arts where he received his B.F.A and M.A. in Composition and Technology. He has worked with many local groups including Present Music and leads The DIY Chamber Music collective.

Currently he is teaching composition and music theory in the Peck School along with his community engagements.
