Biography
Emily Downes is an interdisciplinary artist, creating works using mostly video, animation, photography, music, and puppetry. Her work aims to both process and interpret her own personal perceptions and experiences to invite more broader connections. With an acute curiosity and attentive awareness, she looks to symbols, places, words, ideas, memories, dreams, synchronicities, or situations as the catalysts for her creations.
Emily has made several experimental short videos, documentaries, and animations, which have showcased at film festivals and galleries worldwide, including The Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival, The Milwaukee Film Festival, Minneapolis Underground Film Festival, The Grim Natwick Animation Film Festival, Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Festival, and Demolden Art Gallery in Santander, Spain.
