Mail

The U.S. Postal Service delivers mail to Cambridge Commons, Kenilworth Square Apartments, RiverView Residence Hall, and Sandburg Halls Monday – Saturday except for legal holidays. Mail is sorted by mailroom staff and placed into residents’ mailboxes. Each resident is assigned a personal mailbox secured by either a combination or keyed lock. Mailbox numbers will not correlate to a resident’s suite number.

Correct Name On Packages

Residents ordering packages should include both their first and last name as they appear on their campus ID and their mailbox number in their delivery address to ensure timely and accurate check-in by mailroom staff. Package check-in may be delayed or package may be returned to sender for students receiving packages to names other than their name on file with UWM, as additional research is needed to confirm the correct recipient.

Students wishing to update their name on file with UWM should do so by following UWM’s campus instructions. Students should also have their campus ID updated at the PantherCard Office in the UWM Union to reflect their current name.

Package Deliveries
Packages can be retrieved by Residence Hall residents when presenting their campus ID, or a photo ID that includes their name, to a staff member in their building’s mailroom from 1-8pm Monday through Saturday.

Kenilworth residents can retrieve their packages from the Service Desk.

Residents should look for a notification from our package management system (pictured below) in their UWM inbox to ensure the package is checked into their residential mailroom and available for retrieval.

Food Deliveries
The Service Desk DOES NOT accept food deliveries or other packages. If receiving perishable food items, work with the carrier to have them leave take-out or grocery deliveries on the designated delivery table at your University Housing Facility. It is essential that food items be picked up from the delivery table within 24 hours or they will be discarded or donated. Food deliveries (meal and grocery) sent to the residential mailrooms are not guaranteed refrigeration. University Housing is not responsible for lost or stolen deliveries left at designated delivery tables.
Missing Packages

If you are missing a package, please file a claim through the form below. Package claims will be submitted to the mailroom immediately upon form submission, and a response provided within 1-2 business days.

Missing Package Form

  • Please wait at least 24 hours after receiving a notification from your carrier (Amazon, FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.) before submitting this form.

We recognize that students are excited to receive their packages and often receive a notification from the carrier when a package has been delivered. University Housing Mailrooms must process and log all packages received. With nearly 4000 residents, we process hundreds of packages a day. Processing time may vary depending upon volume and staffing. Certain times of the year (Move-in, Black Friday/Cyber Monday, etc.) can see delayed processing time due to significant increases in volume.

University Housing Mailrooms send students a notification to their UWM email address once a received package has been processed and is ready for pick up. Students are asked to wait until they receive their notification from the University Housing Mailroom before attempting to pick up a package.

    Mail Forwarding/Return-to-Sender
Students who are vacating or no longer living in University Housing should update their forwarding address in their Housing Portal and also remove their UWM address from all online order accounts.

    1. Log into your MyHousing account with your ePanther ID and password. If you have forgotten your password to your ePanther ID, follow the necessary steps to set a new password here.

    2. Once logged in, select the “My Addresses” option on the left-hand side.

    3. Select “Forwarding Address” from the drop-down menu at the top of the form.

    4. Enter your new address and click “Save Changes” when finished.

    5. To help ensure that there is no delay with incoming mail, go to your local post office to fill out an address update card or online through this link.

If mail delivers for a student who no longer lives in University Housing, mailroom staff will look for a forwarding address in the student’s account.

United States forwarding address on file
USPS Priority, Parcel, and First Class mail pieces will be forwarded to the domestic forwarding address in the student’s account.

    Forwarding services unavailable
When packages are not able to be forwarded, they will be returned to sender. Carriers do not provide forwarding services to international addresses. USPS Presorted Standard and Non-Profit classes, Amazon Logistics, FedEx and UPS do not have forwarding services available.

Packages shipped by Amazon Logistics which cannot be delivered to a current housing resident will be returned to sender. Amazon’s policy is the order recipient must request a replacement item at their current address.

UWM mailroom staff do not receive updated tracking information for forwarded or returned packages. Order recipients must contact their carrier for updated tracking information. To follow up with mailroom staff regarding your package, please email housing-mailroom@uwm.edu with your package’s carrier tracking number and delivery date. Sending the mailroom screenshots of your carrier tracking number and delivery confirmation is the best and fastest way to receive the most accurate information.

    C.O.D. Deliveries
Collect On Delivery (C.O.D.) items are not accepted by the Service Desk. All postage must be paid for in advance by the sender.
    Where to Buy Stamps
You can purchase stamps at your local USPS office. The office nearest to Kenwood Campus is on Capitol Drive, west of Oakland Avenue.
