Time and Place

Tuesday, May 15, 2018
2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Spancrete Hospitality Suite
N16 W23415 Stoneridge Dr
Waukesha, WI 53188

Program:
The PCI Spancrete Studio examines the programmatic and
architectural potential of design for a curated community of
entrepreneurs and scientists who constitute a high-tech hub
and accelerator for a Wisconn Valley Innovation Center
located in Milwaukee’s central business district.

As the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis reports, “It is
important for the city to invest its economic development
capital in creating small businesses—and that translates
into incubators.” Milwaukee has an abundance of mature,
technology-based companies, universities, medical centers
and research facilities that can support the development of
related small firms generating patents. Accelerators create
the link.

Project Site:
The main site investigated is 611 E Wisconsin Av, a 65,000
sf parcel located on the eastern end of Milwaukee’s central
business district and near Lake Michigan.

Material Focus:
Structure: prestressed/precast concrete systems
Enclosure: precast concrete, glass, metal, terra cotta, wood
Interior: precast concrete, glass, corian
Research Collaborators:
The PCI Spancrete Studio is a research collaboration of the
PCI Foundation, Spancrete, and the University of Wisconsin-
Milwaukee. It is generously supported through a PCI
Instructional Project grant funded by Spancrete. Special
thanks to: Kim Wacker (Spancrete); Clinton Krell, PE
