Flexible Parking and Transit Options

Parking

UWM Transportation Services recognizes that students, staff, and other community members will not be on campus full-time for the week. The following flexible parking options are offered:

  • One-day parking passes that are valid on day of purchase or for a future date. You can purchase through the Parking Portal.
  • Garage parking debit account tied to your PantherID. Transportation Services uses a separate debit account tied to PantherCards, not GOLD accounts. The GET App is not supported. You can purchase through the Parking Portal.

Parking availability is subject to demand for each day. Transportation Services does not guarantee that a permit will be available for purchase on your desired day.

Purchase a One-Day Pass Through Your Transportation Services Account

You can use your Transportation Services account to reserve a one-day pass or purchase on the day of your arrival. Only select lots are available. Debit Card for Campus Garage Access

Students and employees can add money to their PantherCard for limited use access to Lubar, Pavilion, NWQ, and Union Garages. Your PantherCard or, if added to your account, license plate functions as a debit card. You scan your card against the keypad at the entry/exit machine to enter/exit; otherwise, if a license plate is on your account, it may be read on entry/exit. Each time you leave a garage, the transaction fee is charged. The debit card must be scanned or license plate read on entry and exit to function correctly and properly deduct money from your card. Do not pull a ticket; if you pull a ticket on entry, you cannot use your debit card balance and will have to pay the ticket fee separately on exiting the garage.

Maximum rate is determined by the fee schedule for the garage. Re-entry starts a new transaction. Funds are good until drawn down. Transportation Services does not use GOLD/GET accounts. We have a separate debit account that is also tied to your PantherCard. Transportation Services will provide a different proxy card if your PantherCard is attached to an active permit.

New customers can register with MiParc debit parking portal to register for debit parking. Please contact uwmpark@uwm.edu for assistance.

If you have a permit and choose to add money to your PantherCard, you will need a separate access card. Transportation Services will contact you to provide the card. Otherwise, the debit feature will interfere with usage of your permit. If you have a debit card and later purchase a permit, you will likewise receive a separate access card.

You cannot store vehicles overnight in Lubar and Union garages.

How to Check Your Debit Account Balance

You can check your balance one of three ways:

  • When you scan your PantherCard on entering or exiting a garage, the machine displays the value present on your card. Value on exiting is after the fee has been deducted.
  • By visiting a pay-on-foot station. You can scan your PantherCard to see the balance as well as add money if desired.
  • Check your MiParc account. Email uwmpark@uwm.edu for assistance setting this up.

Bus

The Commuter Value Pass is available for a subsidized rate of $33 a month.

MCTS offers a variety of fare options, such as one-day passes, to meet the needs of employees commuting a couple of times a week. There are several ways to purchase those options, too:

UWM Transportation Services is no longer an MCTS vendor; no discounts or subsidies are available specifically for UWM faculty, staff, or students. Payroll deduction is only available for Commuter Value Passes, not for the part-time bus passes mentioned above.
