Ben Gautsch has been associated with UWM since 2010 in various capacities: as a student, staff member, and instructor. Before joining CETL full-time in 2023, Ben served as a Canvas admin and DLE project assistant at CETL since 2018.  

 As a consultant, Ben focuses on designing and facilitating educational development programs He addresses transparency in learning and teaching (TILT) and collaborates with instructors to create evidence-based learning experiences across all learning environments. His expertise extends to student engagement tools, Canvas Outcomes, blueprinting, and resource sites at the department, program, and course levels. 

 As an instructor, Ben has taught courses in Administrative Leadership and Educational Psychology. His teaching approach emphasizes active learning, high impact practices, and real-world experiences tied to clear learning outcomes.  

 Ben holds a master’s degree in library and information science, with a focus on academic librarianship. Currently, he is pursuing doctoral studies in the Urban Education program within UWM’s School of Education. Specializing in Adult, Continuing, and Higher Education Leadership, his research interests center around faculty and educational development in higher education, specifically in urban access institutions.
