Fostering Excellence

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) seeks to foster a campus culture in which excellence in teaching and attention to student learning are understood and legitimately pursued as scholarly, intellectual work. In acknowledging and sustaining excellence, CETL believes that teaching and student learning are intimately connected and that efforts to improve teaching find their true worth in improved learning.

CETL offers numerous teaching programs, a range of consultation services, awards and opportunities, technology training and support resources.

Mission Statement

CETL supports UWM educators in creating transformative learning experiences for all students. We do this by:  

  • Promoting innovative, evidence-based teaching practices and technologies 
  • Cultivating a culture of commitment to teaching 
  • Creating spaces and fostering communities for educators to gather, discuss, and learn from each other within UWM and beyond
