Trauma Counseling

Turn on the news, and it’s easy to see that the world we live in is filled with trauma and traumatic events. For those affected, trauma is like an invisible wound – those on the outside never know what is lurking beneath the surface.

The silver lining is that there are many human service professionals who dedicate their lives to helping the individuals, families and communities affected. But there is still a great demand for professionals in this field.

At the UWM School of Continuing Education, you’ll find a variety of programs that meet this demand with topics that span Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma first aid and much more. You can also obtain a certificate in EMDR or Trauma Counseling in as little as 18 months (not to exceed three years).

Not only do those in trauma counseling offer people hope; they help them heal by overcoming adversity and fostering resilience.
