PK-12 Professional Development

The UWM School of Continuing Education collaborates with the UWM School of Education to provide professional development programs serving teachers, school administrators, counselors, social workers, and other professionals working with the PK-12 age group in a variety of settings. Credit and non-credit courses are available on site, off site, and online, and are scheduled at convenient times, including evenings and weekends. These courses provide opportunities for educators to expand their professional development, as well as fulfill certification requirements.

The UWM School of Continuing Education also partners with the Wisconsin Afterschool Network to provide entry level courses for leaders and staff serving after-school and out of school programs. Caring for and enriching the lives of school-age children beyond the school day requires a unique set of skills that combines and crosses many professional disciplines and is grounded in an understanding of the growth and development of children. Working with school-age children in the informal out-of-school time is a commitment to making a difference for children. The general age range of children in out-of-school programs is 5 to 12 years.
