Building a Trauma-Informed Classroom

This course provides school professionals with practical strategies to manage the social-emotional impact of trauma on children. Based on the framework of safety, connectedness and regulation, you will attain various strategies to help children regulate their emotions and behaviors in the classroom. This will help you begin building a trauma-informed classroom. You will gain a foundational understanding of trauma and its impact on student learning and behavior. Begin to recognize the signs of trauma in students and understand the importance of safety, trust, and predictability in the classroom environment.

Explore trauma-informed teaching strategies, collaboration with families, caregivers, and support staff, as well as accessing community resources and practicing self-care. You will not only leave this 4-week course with essential components of building a trauma-informed classroom but also with a new network of like-minded educators to continue learning from.
