Richard Lundell, PhD

Richard Lundell is the senior manager of database engineering at Footlocker, a global retailer of shoes and apparel. Rick has more than 25 years of experience in education, data management, relationship building and leadership.

Rick’s career trajectory is unique, but follows a consistent theme: education is crucial in work and life. He began his liberal arts education with a passion for teaching and history, eventually earning a PhD in history from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Following his curiosity, he spent over a decade learning, acquiring certifications and teaching computer technology in a classroom setting. Next, he transitioned to implementing database technology for several organizations. Finally, he embraced the opportunity to lead teams and build organizational relationships.

His core belief is that we must continue to learn in order to remain effective and relevant in technology. Individual technologies rise and fall, come and go, and the curious, educated, open-minded, problem-solving individual will always remain in demand.
