Barbara Farmerie, MBA, PMP
Barb Farmerie was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, starting her career at a bank as a systems analyst. Moving to Milwaukee to further advance her career in information technology (and get married) proved successful. She worked for a large consumer goods manufacturing firm, where she was an IT development manager delivering business application projects. During this time, she also acquired her MBA from Marquette University.
Subsequently, Barb was a project officer with an information technology consulting firm. As a project officer, she was responsible for coaching, mentoring and training project managers as well as facilitating project start-ups and conducting quality assurance audits to ensure successful project delivery. She implemented still-active project management offices at major area firms. In June 2000, she passed her Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification exam from Project Management Institute (PMI®), and has maintained her PMP since that time.
Barb has served in various roles, including President on the Board of Directors for the PMI-Milwaukee/Southeast WI chapter. She was the first to receive their 10-year Volunteer Award, and started up or facilitated over 50 study groups to aid others in obtaining their PMP certification.
In September, 2021, Barb and her husband repacked their bags and moved to Anchorage, Alaska. She has established a new home base in the 49th state, and is appreciative of the virtual links to the “Lower 48” while still being a Packers fan.
