Abstract
From the foods we eat, the cars we drive, and the phones we play on each day, everywhere we go, we are surrounded by intellectual property. Each year, UWM researchers submit around 50 invention descriptions to the UWM Research Foundation (UWMRF) for copyrighted and potentially patentable ideas. Many researchers do not realize that they actually have a commercializable method, material, or product. The mission of the UWMRF is to educate and support UWM employees in the commercialization of their ideas whether through licensing or a new start-up company. Our goal is to share with the world the ground breaking new technologies created here in Milwaukee. In this talk you will learn the basics of intellectual property and how IP is managed here at UWM.
