Mary Muhammad, PhD

Mary Muhammad, PhD is a licensed professional counselor, clinical substance abuse counselor and counselor educator. Dr. Muhammad earned her PhD in counselor education and supervision from Walden University and a Master of Science in community psychology from Alverno College. Dr. Muhammad has served in the mental health field for over 10 years, worked in nonprofit social service-based organizations for over 12 years, and has been a counselor educator for five years. Furthermore, she is a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. Dr. Muhammad specializes in serious and persistent mental illness, anxiety, OCD, addiction, social justice advocacy and trauma.

Dr. Muhammad’s experience covers a well-rounded multitude of areas ranging from program development and implementation, counseling, clinical supervision, community outreach, case management, research, music and the arts, working with diverse communities and service to others.

As a counselor and counselor educator, Dr. Muhammad never ceases in promoting social justice advocacy within Milwaukee by bridging gaps between institutions, resources and the community. Furthermore, Dr. Muhammad’s philosophy for those she serves is to assist them in reaching their highest potential through self-actualization and reminding them that they are the true experts in their lives.
