The Department of Mathematical Sciences would like to congratulate the following Professors on their retirement. Jay Beder, Yi Ming Zou, Hans Volkmer, and Allen Bell were all great colleagues and will be missed!
Spring 2021
Jay Beder, PhD 1981, Statistics, 6 PhD students, 23 publications with 37 citations, 2 undergraduate teaching awards, served as Assistant Chair and was active on the Undergraduate Committee.
Yi Ming Zou, PhD 1991, Algebra, 5 PhD students, 37 publications with 113 citations, served as Graduate Program Coordinator and was active on the Graduate Committee.
Hans Volkmer, PhD 1979, Analysis, 4 PhD students, 134 publications with 475 citations.
Spring 2020
Allen Bell, PhD 1984, Algebra, 7 PhD students, 15 publications with 106 citations, served as Assistant Chair and as Department chair twice.
