Title:
Growth Mindset in the Classroom: What I have learned from Project NExT
Description/Abstract:
Student success depends on many factors, but one that is often overlooked is their psychological preparation. Students with a growth mindset, as defined by Dweck, are more engaged, demonstrate more persistence, and are more excited to take on challenges than those with a fixed mindset. In this talk I will discuss the fixed and growth mindsets and what we, as educators, can do to encourage it in the classroom. The material here is a piece of what I have learned through the MAA’s Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching).
