The April 2021 InFocus Newsletter constructed by the college of Letters & Science recognizes UW-Milwaukee Mathematics applied mathematics doctoral student John Jurkiewicz.
Jurkiewicz has been with the UW-Milwaukee Mathematics department since 2011, when he started what would be his first of three degrees in Mathematics from the University. He won both the Morris & Miriam Marden Undergraduate Mathematics Award and the James Martin Memorial Scholarship during his time as an undergraduate. Now, he is in a partnership with the Advocate Aurora Research Institute – developing an accessible algorithm that will allow heart cell researchers to receive results in minutes instead of hours.
