Students Learn Collection Management

Graduate students in ARTHIST 704: Introduction to Art Museum Studies II get one-on-one collection management training from the Curator, UWM Art Collection, Christa Story. Working with Associate Professor Richard Leson, Story created a hands-on activity for the students in the graduate colloquium that corresponds with the exhibition they are designing and curating later in the semester. Each student was assigned a print by Robert Rauschenberg from the UWM Art Collection that will be displayed in the exhibit. Then, each student had to opportunity to meet with Story to discuss condition, media, matting, and framing.  Story also taught the students how to measure and distinguish different print media. Here, graduate student Kara Hendrickson can be seen meeting with Story and measuring her print in the UWM Art History Gallery vault.
