Traveling Exhibition Procedures

Scheduling

Exhibitions are scheduled for periods of 6 to 8 weeks. Extensions up to 4 weeks (if there are no conflicts) may be requested.

Please see our individual exhibitions pages for availability.

Please contact the UWM Art Collection staff at mathisartgallery@uwm.edu for more information about booking exhibitions.

crateShipping and Insurance

Facility Report: Potential borrowers must provide a facility report before contractual arrangements can be completed. If your facility report is approved, a contract will be forwarded for examination by the borrowing institution and must be signed by an authorized staff person.

Borrowers are responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements.  The UWM Art History Gallery staff must be kept informed of all arrangements.

Exhibitions must be shipped via ground transport fine arts shippers.

Shipping costs must include full risk, wall-to-wall insurance for every exhibition contracted. Certificates of Insurance must be received by the UWM Art Collection staff at least one month prior to shipment.

Upon receiving the exhibition, the borrowers must contact the UWM Art Collection Staff to confirm safe arrival.

Installation and Preparation

Condition reports: Incoming and outgoing reports must accompany each exhibition and must be completed by a professional staff member.  Any damages must be reported immediately to the UWM Art Collection staff.

The amount of space required is listed in the description of the individual exhibition. The total is arrived at by doubling the footage of the framed works placed edge to edge. The amount of space may vary depending on the manner of installation.

Art should not be removed from frames without the permission of the UWM Art Collection staff.

Hardware will be provided for frames having security mounts.

Fees

A 25% non-refundable deposit is due upon signing of the contract.

The remaining balance is due on the first day of the booking period. Please see individual exhibition information for exact costs.

Costs of the exhibitions are based on booking periods of 6-8 weeks. Extensions are billed on a pro-rated weekly basis (up to 12 weeks).
