Czech

Czech is closely related to Polish, Slovak and the Sorbian languages of eastern Germany. Spoken by 10 million people in the Czech Republic, it’s also prevalent throughout the world. From Portugal and Poland to Germany and the U.S., this Western Slavic language is filled with history and culture – especially here in Milwaukee.

In fact, the Czech community in Milwaukee is one of the oldest Czech settlements in the United States. In the early twentieth century, Czech immigrants made their mark on Milwaukee business.

At the UWM School of Continuing Education, you’ll find multiple levels of Czech language courses. Learn vocabulary, tenses, pronunciation, conversation skills and the history of this fascinating language.
