Applied Research Projects

Applied research is another one of the Center’s strengths. Throughout the years, clients from private entities, local units of government, city, county and governmental agencies have commissioned CTED staff to perform transportation feasibility studies and survey analyses.

WAUKESHA COUNTY INDUSTRIAL PARK SURVEY:
The focus of this study was the impact of transportation, childcare and housing on businesses and employees in Waukesha County. CTED researchers compared employer and employee survey results, enabling businesses in the industrial parks and the county to devise strategies to attract and maintain a productive workforce.

BE ON THE SAFE SIDE (BOSS):
The UWM Office of Student Life commissioned the BOSS Research Study. The study examined the student funded demand responsive van service and walking escort program. CTED reviewed the capability of current transportation vehicles, service area, service hours, promotional materials, dispatching techniques and policies. This information was gathered using surveys, observing BOSS staff and by examining driver and dispatcher manifests and BOSS promotional materials. CTED provided a series of recommendations to improve the quality and efficiency of the BOSS van service.
