Kweku Ramel Smith

Dr. Kweku Ramel Smith was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a proud product of Milwaukee Public Schools. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology. He later went on to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and graduated with a Master of Science in educational psychology and a Doctorate of Philosophy in urban education with an emphasis in school psychology.

Smith is a licensed psychologist in the state of Wisconsin. A clinical psychologist by trade, Smith has had the opportunity to develop his skill set in varying arenas throughout his career: correctional facilities, hospitals and secondary and higher education. Since 2007, Smith has been the president of BLAQUESMITH Psychological Consultative Services, LLC.

A fierce advocate for social justice and community empowerment, Smith is regularly asked to provide commentary on issues of mental health. In addition to his work nationally, he strives to make an impact locally through providing training and support to area schools and agencies on the topics of violence prevention, trauma informed care, social justice and human trafficking. Smith strives to speak truth in a manner which informs and empowers his community to make positive changes that will ultimately result in better outcomes for all.

Smith recently published a piece titled, “Opinion: In Milwaukee’s Racial Climate, There Is a Problem Behind the Problem that Creates Anarchy, Chaos and Division.”
