U.S. Navy on Guam 1899-1910

When the United States won the Spanish-American War in 1899, they acquired the island of Guam. The Navy took command of the island. They improved the infrastructure while simultaneously forming friendships and opinions of the locals. The purpose of this talk is to look at what the members of the Navy and Marines thought about the island. Some of them created intimate relationships, while others could not wait to leave the island.
