The Barry Sisters: Consummate Yiddish Swingsters

Claire and Merna Barry were among the earliest and best-known Yiddish Swingsters with their lively renditions of Jewish music set to a jazzy beat. With tight harmonies, the glamorous sisters performed mostly Yiddish songs on radio and television, in nightclubs, on concert stages and on dozens of recordings from the late 1930s to 1973. This presentation explores The Barry Sisters unique career and highlights some of the best Yiddish Swing recordings by others artists.
