Statistical Literacy

Gr. 9-12

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the statistical ideas that are often presented in publications both by media outlets and by researchers presenting the results of their studies. This course is designed not as an introductory statistics course where students learn how to carry out statistical calculations. It is designed as a course that teaches the student how to examine the presented results critically. Among the topics to be covered are confidence intervals and margin of error, hypothesis testing and statistical significance, p-values, sampling methodology, and sound design of experiments.

This course can be applied to the Data Science Certificate Track.
