Impressionism

Realism and Impressionism, between about 1850 and 1900, marked the beginning of modern art in Europe. This class will consider the artists, mostly French, who broke with traditional techniques while focusing on contemporary, non-heroic subjects. Special attention will be paid to Edouard Manet and Claude Monet.
