Blacksmithing
Gr. 6-12 & 9-12
This one-week workshop is an introduction to the fundamentals of blacksmithing. Demonstrations and information about tapering, twisting, scrolling, hot cutting, hot punching, upsetting, chisel work, cold connections and other techniques will be followed by lots of hands-on time. In addition, students will visit the Villa Terrace to explore the works of local legend and world-famous blacksmith Cyril Colnik. At the end of the week all participants will leave with their very own hand forged hooks, nails, and other small decorative items.
This course can be applied to the Art & Design Certificate Track.
