Graduate students in Richard Leson’s ARTHIST 720: Colloquium in Medieval Art and Architecture: Women and the Book visited UWM Special Collections to view medieval manuscript facsimiles as well as sixteenth and seventeenth century original manuscripts on March 2, 2015. During their meeting, Head of Special Collections, Max Yela, shared his expertise in production processes of manuscripts and facsimiles and led a discussion about manuscript illustrations and the role of women in the patronage of these texts. Students were given the opportunity to examine several texts they had analyzed in class: The Hours of Jeanne d’Evreux and The Queen Mary Psalter.
