Prompted by a film school exercise, Danish filmmaker Lea Glob first meets French painter Apolonia Sokol in 2009. She continues to film Apolonia off and on for thirteen years as the young artist makes her voyage into the art world from the Parisian theater in which she was raised to her studies at the prestigious Beaux-Arts de Paris and onto eventual fame.

This year's Floating will showcase work by eight Chicago-based artists who engage with the theme of "Recall." Floating is a non-profit screening series curated by Milwaukee-based artist Lin Chen. The series aims to connect with new creators and audiences each year.

A comedy of improbable encounters and unlikely language lessons, A Traveler’s Needs marks the third collaboration between Hong Sang-Soo and Isabelle Huppert. This time Huppert plays Iris, a woman who finds herself adrift in Seoul and without any means to make ends meet, turns to teaching French via a très peculiar method. Through a series of encounters, as we grow to know more about Iris and her situation, the mysteries of her circumstances only deepen.

When Mara, a young creative writing professor, reunites with Matt, a charismatic, free-spirited author from her past, a chance encounter threatens to spin her life in a thrilling new direction. Bonded by their history and shared interests, the two grow closer, while Mara contends with her strained marriage to an experimental musician. When her husband unexpectedly cancels plans to drive Mara to a conference out of town, Matt accompanies her instead and the pressure in their undefined relationship slowly builds.
