Age Restrictions: No one below the age of 14 is allowed to access the space. Patrons 14 to 17 must have a legal guardian present at all times.

Summer Memberships are Live
The Studio Arts and Craft Centre will open over the summer of 2026, if we receive a minimum of 35 purchased memberships.
The hours would be Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays 4pm – 9pm, Saturdays 10am – 4pm. Starting Monday, June 8th and closing Saturday, August 22nd. These dates and times are subject to change due to the universities’ Student Union Hours. In the event we do not receive 35 memberships, everyone will be refunded. Events
The Craft Centre offers so many free options from demonstrations to crochet nights! We will offer different crafting projects frequently on the Union Concourse. Some of the projects offered will include you-paint-it pottery, macramé, string art, garland making, ornaments and much more!

Bring your questions to the help desk and consult our knitting and crochet teacher, Jeannie Baker (an actual old lady who has knitted and crocheted for many years and made more pattern mistakes than a cat has whiskers), for one-on-one support!

Workshops
Each semester the Studio Arts & Craft Centre offers short-term workshops to teach different skills and techniques. Attendees pay a fee to receive instruction and supplies and end up leaving with a piece(s) of their own, along with new skills to keep making on their own!
October 15, 2026, 2:30pm - 5:00pmInterested in learning the foundations of crochet? Granny squares are a great place to build or hone skills in fiber art! Individual squares can be displayed or combined to create larger objects like scarves, blankets, or clothing pieces! Join us for this one-night course, to learn the basics, including successfully selecting yarn, reading a pattern, planning your project, and creating foundation stitches! Fiber arts like crochet and knitting are a great tool to manage stress and anxiety and an even greater way to meet people while engaging in a fun communal activity.
October 15, 2026, 6:00pm - 8:00pmExplore the creative possibilities of collagraph printmaking by building a textured printing plate from everyday materials such as cardboard, fabric, lace, leaves, and other found objects. Over two sessions, participants will design, ink, and print their unique plates while experimenting with this sustainable and versatile printmaking technique. Whether creating abstract or representational imagery, everyone will leave with a collection of original prints ready to display and share.

The Studio Arts & Craft Centre reserves the right to cancel workshops due to low enrollment. In that case, attendees will be notified one day prior to the start date by 10am and will receive a full refund.

The Studio Arts & Craft Centre provides a space for artists of all levels and media to create and learn. Students and paid members have unlimited access to the studio space including equipment, tools, and a wide array of free check-out items during your time in the space.

- Projects of the Week, which include all instructions and supplies necessary
- Discounted prices on workshops, clay, and locker rentals for UWM students
- A variety of free events offered throughout the semester, occurring both inside and outside of the studio
Due to University Safety Regulations and the nature of our space, no persons under the age of 13 are allowed in the Craft Centre. Persons between the ages of 13 to 17 require parental supervision at ALL times.
