Wendy Freitag, PhD

Wendy Freitag, PhD is an experienced Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy clinician trained by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1994. She is an EMDR Institute regional trainer, facilitator and logistician, as well as an EMDR International Association (EMDRIA)-approved consultant. She served as the EMDRIA secretary, president and director from 1998 to 2007 and is currently serving as the president of the EMDR Research Foundation. Dr. Freitag served as the co-chairperson of the EMDRIA Standard and Training (S&T) subcommittee to revise the credentialing requirements for certified therapists and approved consultants, and now serves on the S&T Professional Development subcommittee with the same goals. She is the founder and co-coordinator of the WI EMDRIA regional network.

Freitag has a private practice in Wauwatosa, serving adults and couples. She has extensive clinical and EMDR therapy experience in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, grief and anger issues and facilitates personal transitions while enhancing performance.

Freitag was awarded the Francine Shapiro Award for Outstanding Service to EMDR and the Outstanding Contribution and Service to EMDRIA Award at the EMDR International Association Conference in 2004 in Montreal, QC.
