John Savagian

John C. Savagian, Ph.D. is Professor of history at Alverno College. His scholarship focuses on indigenous peoples, antebellum America, and teaching and learning. He teaches a variety of courses in history and the humanities, including Global Indigenous Peoples, Life of the Plains People, Memory and Imagination in the Civil War, and the Origins of American Slavery. His teaching expertise has led to consulting with faculty at colleges and universities across the United States on teaching and assessing with learning outcomes. He is member of the American Historical Association’s Tuning Project.
