After graduating with a master’s degree in engineering, Jay worked for over 10 years in research and development for international corporations. In the late 1990s, he was hired as a process engineer for Renewable Oxygenates Industries in Plover, WI. R.O.I. received a grant to demonstrate the production of fuel-grade ethanol from cheese whey by-product. R.O. I. remained in operation for 22 months and closed for financial reasons. He currently works as a consultant.
