Rick Finnie

Rick Finnie is the owner of M. R. Mold & Engineering, located in Brea, California, which will celebrate 35 years in business in 2020.

Rick Finnie was recently presented with the prestigious Mold Builder of the Year award in 2019 by the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA). The award recognizes an individual whose life-long talents and dedication to the mold building industry stand out above the rest. Finnie has been a leader and mentor in the mold building industry for over 40 years. He is truly passionate about the industry and supports the MADE IN THE USA label – continually exemplifying this in his actions.

Finnie’s journey began within his father’s line of work, which was in tool and cutter grinding. After his dad closed his business in 1977, Rick worked for eight years for a leading west coast mold maker and his knowledge of liquid silicone began.

Within the last 35 years having gained intricate knowledge of the liquid silicone rubber (LSR) industry, M.R. Mold has developed its own cold runner system, universal base and automation which enable the company to provide every option for the project’s needs. Rick possesses a unique sense of problem-solving, which is extremely important in dealing with LSR tools.

Today, M.R. Mold & Engineering is known globally for its expertise and experience in high-quality LSR, gum stock silicone and plastic injection molds. The company is home to 30+ employees in a 24,000 sq. ft. facility with state-of-the-art machining equipment, including a five-axis Yasda mill and six molding machines.
