India McCanse

India McCanse comes from a political, social justice-minded family and began participating in demonstrations and marches when she was six years old. She started her nonprofit career as Director of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood in Missouri, and she was later promoted to the national office as National Field Director for Public Affairs. India came to Milwaukee as Vice President of Clinic Services for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and later served as CEO of several Milwaukee nonprofits including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Pathfinders and Literacy Services of Wisconsin.

A political activist, she has served in campaigns and movements for racial justice, reproductive rights and LGBTQ issues. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in counseling psychology and is completing a second Master’s in Theology.
